Malik visits Prof Hamidi’s residence, expresses solidarity with bereaved family | KNO

Srinagar, December 28 (KNO) : Muhammad Yasin Malik, Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) on Friday expressed his heartfelt grief over the demise of legendary intellectual, writer, teacher, poet, social leader and ex-vice chancellor of Kashmir University, Professor Hamidi Kashmiri who breathed his last yesterday. In a statement issued to KNO, JKLF spokesman said Malik visited Prof Hamidi’s bereaved family, expressed condolences to them and addressed a condolence meeting also. In his speech, Malik while paying tributes to ex-vice chancellor of KU said that he was an upright man who had a loving and caring heart and eternal love for his mother land Kashmir. Recalling late Professor’s courage and passion for standing for truth and the oppressed, Malik said that “in 1992, when he (Malik) started an indefinite hunger strike against operation tiger carried out by forces, late Professor Hamidi, not caring for his position and post as vice chancellor, joined protest camp in Srinagar, which was organized as a show of solidarity with the oppressed, sat in the hunger strike camp for the whole day and raised his voice for Kashmiri youth who were being killed in custody by forces.” JKLF chairman said that “living nations don’t forget or overlook the sacrifices and virtues of their great men and women and always continue recalling their services for the righteous national cause.” While praying for the heavenly abode of the departed soul, JKLF chairman also prayed for the Sabr-i-Jamil of his bereaved family. Malik also expressed sorrow over the demise of mothers of senior journalists Manzoor Anjum and Noor-Ul-Qamrain who breathed their last recently. JKLF chairman visited the residences of the deceased and expressed solidarity with their bereaved families. He went to Alocha-bagh and met with senior journalist and Editor ‘Uqaab’ Manzoor Anjum and expressed condolences with him at the demise of his mother. JKLF chairman then went to Pir-Bagh and met with another senior journalist editor of ‘Muslim Kashmir’ Noor-Ul-Qamrain and expressed condolences to him at the demise of his mother. JKLF chairman while praying for the heavenly abode of these deceased mothers, also prayed for the Sabr-i-Jamil of their bereaved families.(KNO)
